10/10 experience!!! Yeah you can watch puffins in a nearby spot for free, but I highly recommend booking an experience with these guys. They are local and do a great job: they are always in good mood, explained a lot about Iceland and wildlife, showed us hidden gem spots and a lot of birds and seals. We had a lot of fun with them. And the costumes and goggles were so new and convenient. Amazing 1 hour spent with these guys. And they also give recommendations about Iceland 😍 they are the best! we just did a tour in July 2024 and it was one of the highlights of our trip.

Totally worth it! Just riding on the boat is fun, but it's the stunning views, funny guides, getting close the the cliffs, the incredibly rich birdlife, and the occasional seal and whale encounters that really make the experience special. You get close to places that not many people have seen!

We took the midday puffin tour. It was pay on arrival.

The tour is given by two brothers who are born and raised in the town.

They are very upbeat and funny guys. They were very informative and knowledgeable about the region.

The tour took us around the bay and the views are absolutely breathtaking.

The guys know exactly where to go and stop to give you the best views of the cliffs and the birds nesting on them.
Then they took us to see some seals.

The boat vas very comfortable and they steer it very well.

Highly recommended tour, don’t go anywhere else to see puffins!

Such a fun experience! You get to see so much more on the water than on land and the guys are so friendly and knowledgeable locals. My parents have knee issues but we just took our time lifting 1 leg at a time to get on the saddle seats. They give you warm suits to wear and ski goggles so your eyes don't tear up from the wind. Would definitely book again and it was easy to book just 30 minutes before our time slot.

We had the most amazing time with Puffin Adventures yesterday! Definitely a highlight of our trip to Iceland. Starting with the journey to get to there- the road trip through the mountains was incredible with stunning views. On the way I managed to spot a whale close to land even from the car!! Then we arrived and were welcomed with a friendly and warm team, and provided comfy dry travel suits for the trip. The boat itself is super fun and goes really fast! You whizz by while puffin fly above you. Our guides were fab along the way with interesting stories and jokes. We saw hump back whales and other types of whales incredibly close. It felt like we could touch them! Little seals came poking up of the water. And lots and lots of puffins, mini penguins and other birds to spot throughout. Highly recommend this!!

Our Puffin Tour was an unforgettable adventure! The two guides were knowledgeable and passionate, making the experience both educational and thrilling. We were lucky enough to see countless puffins and more sea birds, nesting on cliff faces. As if that wasn't enough, the sight of majestic whales surfacing so close to the coast left us in awe. The guides were friendly and ensured we had a safe, comfortable journey. They even saved a young gull that was not strong enough to get back up onto the cliff. This tour is a must-do for anyone definitely worth a detour up to Bakkagerdi—truly one of the best experiences of our trip.
