Review of Icelandic Elements

Forget New Zealand, The Test and South Fork. Petur is magical. At 8AM each day, Petur picked us up in his comfortable, modern four wheel Land Cruiser. We drove near Reykjavik with informed discussions of the tectonic plate separation, Icelandic flowers, sagas, exotic fish cookery and Icelandic rap music; yes, they are there. This is one delightful guide- humorous, great American speech and courteous.

But he really shined when we approached private water to fish for Char and late season Brown trout. He provided licenses, rods, local flys, waders, soft Icelandic water. We hiked to amazing, gin clear holding water, guided to the unique hungers of local fish and the haul was amazing in numbers and size. What is better than seed bread sandwiches, hot coffee and crisps on the bank of rivers without humans within ten miles. The hiking alone, through lupines and wild lettuces would have been enough. In July there are 18 hours of light so through were no constraints on time.

Petur joined us at local restaurants for the lobster or fish chowders, great hamburgers and amazing pastries. Everyone knows him and respects him.

My family of four (kids 15 and 12) recently returned from a Spring Break trip to Iceland and there is no question that Petur from Icelandic Elements made our experience even better than we expected. We booked Petur to take us fishing, do some of the Golden Circle and take us to a hot spring. It was a cold, windy day for fishing but Petur was great, he brought us to a river that was out of the way and proceeded to run back and forth to help the kids get unstuck, untangled, etc. Rest of the tour was just as good, lots of local knowledge everywhere we went. We had booked a different tour to hike up a volcano a couple of days later but it was cancelled due to weather. We immediately contacted Petur and asked if he was available and fortunately he was. The weather was cold and rainy and we could not make the volcano hike but he took us to some amazing places and really saved our day! We realized that you cannot ever count on the weather in Iceland and having a guide like Petur, who can be flexible and make changes no matter what the weather is, is incredibly valuable. When you only have 3-4 days losing one would be devastating. Overall I Cannot recommend Petur enough, we'll definitely be back to Iceland and can't wait to have Petur show us more of that beautiful country.

We highly recommend Islandic Elements. The two of us spent two incredible days touring Iceland with Pétur Benedikt, owner of Icelandic Elements. He was everything you could hope for in a guide - knowledgeable, personable, accommodating, helpful, on time, and a careful driver. In addition, he had a wonderful sense of humor, clearly loves sharing his country with visitors, and cheerfully answered our myriad questions about everything from geothermal energy and restaurants to the political system, sports, and trolls.

My family and I had a one day tour with Petur to see the south coast of Iceland. I have to say it was the best way to go!!! We were able to see so much in one day. I’m not really good with crowds either and he already knew the best way to see everything while avoiding the obtrusive crowds. He was so enjoyable to be with and so knowledgeable about his country. He really has a love for Iceland which is why it made it so wonderful to have him as a tour guide. I wouldn’t hesitate to book him. After a tour with him, you’ll fall in love with Iceland, just as I did. It really is a beauty.

Just took a private tour with Petur and it was awesome. Arrived on time, very accommodating, was personable and a gentleman. We had 5 family members on the tour, the car is new and very comfortable, he explained all of the local culture along the route, took us to each destination and walked with us and explained everything we needed to know.
