Herbergið meiriháttar. Þjónustan framúrskarandi og mótökur þegar komið er á hótelið með eindæmum. Morgunmaturinn var góður og vel sett fram. Matsalurinn einstakur og líðan þegar maður situr þarna er einstök. Við hjónin notuðum pottin og mæli ég eindregið með að taka hann í morgunsárið og fara svo í ljúffenga morgunmatinn. Mun örugglega leita aftur á Viking Hótel||Bestu kveðjur||Ólafu og Sigrún

We stayed in a little apartment with our 10 month old baby in mid April.

The apartments themselves are very nice and they provide a cot for quite a large fee (3500ISK or £21 - for a single night!).

These were some of the most reasonably priced apartments in Reykjavik, and they have a little private area upstairs which is nice as the baby goes to sleep around 7pm.

However, the area upstairs is very much in the same room as downstairs so once the baby is asleep you have to be very quiet or incur their baby viking wrath. This is particularly difficult given the beds up there are *so* creaky (as is the floor).

It would be nice if there was some way to dampen the sound, e.g. a curtain or sliding shutters so that you could have some privacy up there.

The rooms however are a very nice quality, the staff are nice, there is an interesting gift shop and the adjoining restaurant is very atmospheric. The beds could have been comfier.

The hotel is located quite close to Central Reykjavik - it would be a long walk, but an easy drive into town. We stayed here as a convenient means for getting to the airport on the last day of our trip.

We did not avail ourselves of the hot tub or sauna but they looked very nice!

We were in room 50 Ullur - each room is named after a Norse god.

A double room wasn't available when we booked so we had 2 twin beds. The room was extremely small. There was nowhere to open our luggas. There was only one usable power outlet. The bathroom was a wet bath with a squeegee for the floor. There were no toiletries except soap from a wall mounted dispenser. The room was clean. The bedding was clean and comfortable. The were polite. Breakfast was OK. The breakfast room didn't have a lot of room to move around. The location was close to everything with lots of free parking. I would probably find somewhere else to stay in the future. Mostly because of the size of the room. This was the first hotel stay in Iceland so maybe our expectations are high and this is standard here.

Hotel Viking decor in lobby & restaurant area was entertaining. Breakfast was good.|Wish we were told about construction in front of lobby/check-in. All parking spots were filled in front and 2 cars were pulled in making their own space; very chaotic.|Room was basic; guess you need to spend more for a Viking touch. Not much in room: no wash clothes, tissues, and had 2 used rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom.|Would have been nice to receive a Viking Restaurant discount if staying in the Hotel.

As a solo guest, I had a great stay at Hotel Viking. The decor is quirky being Viking themed. The receptionists are welcoming and very helpful. I had a twin bedded room on the ground floor. It was in "Viking" style and very warm and comfortable which enabled a good nights sleep. There is easy access to the hot tub which I enjoyed using in the late afternoon when the air temperature was -5C!! The breakfast is a buffet with cold meats and cheeses. You can make your own waffles, which is good fun. A separate review has been written about the Restaurant. The Hotel is near the working harbour which is interesting to explore. The small shopping precinct has interesting shops and also independent coffee shops with exceptional cakes. A local bus takes you into the city centre. The airport bus and tour buses conveniently collect, and return you, from the Hotel. This is not your average hotel and I'm sure that children especially would think it great.

The rooms are noticeably smaller, which is typical for the area, but the significant lack of exhaust or ventilation is a major concern. The room becomes quite suffocating after a shower.

Additionally, I had an unpleasant encounter with a staff member during breakfast. When I tried to refill my plate before 10 AM, while the salad bar was still open, their behavior was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Guests should not be treated in this manner.

On a positive note, the lobby was pleasant, and other staff members were friendly and helpful.
