We had a great time here. On our way to a beach up north we stopped when we saw this 💎 gem on the map. Great stories and tour guide. We went around 4pm thinking we were too late but they did an amazing job accommodating us. We were the only ones there which was amazing as well. The viking house was worth it alone. We walked around the property and bought some jewelry ✨️ ☺️ they have bathrooms and are renovating the property. The new owner is doing a great job and we enjoyed every minute we were there. Lots of questions were answered and they explained e eryrhing very well. Thank you so much for the great hospitality. We are so happy we stopped.

🇬🇧 ENG: By far the best place we’ve visited so far in Iceland! From the outside it just looks like a small reconstructed “house,” but the experience of sitting inside and hearing about Iceland, the Vikings, and Erik the Red from the two amazing girls who run the place is something you absolutely have to do!
They are very knowledgeable, historically prepared, friendly, and able to tell an incredible story in a truly engaging way.
You’ll walk out of there with a new perspective on who the Vikings were and what they did, and with a wealth of stories to share yourself. Places like this deserve to be supported and preserved!

Incredible place with people who genuinely care about the culture they are presenting. Hearing our tour guide talk about the things that were special to her were very powerful, the nature of the norse spirit world and legends that have been passed down for generations...good stuff. Worth a stop. 1-2 hours, or longer if you vibe on a fireside chat in a turf longhouse...

This was a site that I thought I might have to cut for time on the day that we were passing through but I am happy to say we worked it out and the visit was a very pleasant surprise! The turf longhouse is beautifully done and really gives a feel for what life must have been like. There were two docents who provided information and our female docent (Im sorry Ive forgotten her name) was just superb! She gave so much fascinating information about turf houses, about Erik the Red, about viking culture and Icelandic heritage. I learned so much in just a few minutes of hearing her talk. I would have loved to have stayed longer! I was glad to see young people visiting and I hope they gleaned lots of facts to take back to their classrooms. Thank you so much.. well worth the cost of admission. 2800 ISK for adults, 2000 for kids and seniors. Open 10-5p April through October. Clean WC facilities, nice gift shop, and free parking. Easy drive to access...just a few minutes off the main highway. Also beautiful lake views. If in doubt...make the stop! Plan 45-60 minutes if you can.
