Excellent food and service, great ambience, five stars.

This historic building was so cool. The history about U.S. soldiers who would come and steal the Icelandic women from the local men and showed chivalry was interesting to learn. The marriage bliss cake was delightful alongside some fresh brewed coffee to end the walking food tour with Bonnie from Wake Up Reykjavik.

Final stop of the foodie walking tour with Bonnie of Wake up Reykjavik! We came here for the happy wedding cake dessert and this was what I looked forward to eating the most in Iceland but it was a little underwhelming compared to the hype. Really lovely ambience though

Within the art deco style building next to a beautiful park/square, this gem of a restaurant is a must visit. To begin with, the service staff were really impeccable. Such genuine interactions, they clearly love what they do, and made a great visit even better. I have never seen someone's eyes light up about local baby potatoes before until now.
Food was really well executed, and really hit the mark on flavour.
Trust their recommendations, the fish of the day is also a good idea.
Live guitar strumming peacefully behind us was a nice touch. I'd come back for sure.

This rating is for the restaurant. We went there as the last place on a walking food tour. For dessert, we were given the Icelandic pancake with maple syrup and cream. FYI - it looks like a crepe but is their pancake. While good, this did not feel like an Icelandic dessert - likely due to the maple syrup. It felt more Canadian.

We first visited as part of a food tour and we were served the best Hjónabandssæla (Happy Marriage Cake) from our entire Iceland stay. We went back again for a full dinner. The table bread and langoustine dip were fantastic starts. Our main courses, the lamb and beef tenderloin, were phenomenal along with the accompaniments. The service was warm and friendly. Our best restaurant experience from our entire Iceland visit.

My family and I came here for a birthday dinner a few days ago. As always, the architecture and design of Borg is classic and unmatched - few establishments in Reykjavík can boast about history and cultural importance as can Hótel Borg. All of us in the group, five total, enjoyed an appetizer, main, dessert, and drinks. I had the langoustine bisque ("humarsúpa"), the fish of the day ("fiskur dagsins") - which happened to be perch / karfi, and then the vanilla bavarois for dessert. The servers were highly attentive and able to answer our questions along the the way, along with making good wine recommendations to accompany our meal. Everything was well-timed, well-plated, and delicious - but I'd say the desserts were the weakest link in an otherwise memorable meal. Two of us ordered the Borg ice cream, one had the Omnom chocolate mousse, and I had the bavarois. The ice cream seemed to be a larger portion, accompanied by fruit and a crepe underneath - maybe even suitable for sharing. My and my partner's desserts were very small and without much flavor. They also cost around 3500 ISK, which was steep for the size and the flavor. I would happily return to Borg for another dinner - but perhaps would go elsewhere for dessert.
