We had a truly wonderful stay at Miðhraun – Lava Resort! Tucked away in the Icelandic countryside, this location was perfect for exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in a loop. ||We traveled as a family, and our kids especially loved being on a working sheep farm — there were sheep and lambs roaming all around, which made the stay feel magical. ||The thermal pool and sauna were incredible and made for a relaxing end to our days. There’s also a cold plunge pond and a beautiful little creek nestled along a lava rock hill — it was like something out of a storybook. Our children also adored the outdoor play area, especially the bouncing pad. ||The on-site restaurant was delicious, though slightly pricey, which is fairly typical for Iceland. We stayed in one of the houses and loved it — two bedrooms downstairs, a cozy loft upstairs, and a washer and dryer (a huge bonus when traveling in Iceland!). ||The kitchen was well-stocked for cooking meals, though there was no microwave or freezer (also common for Iceland). ||Beds were very comfortable, including the bunk beds for the kids. There was plenty of space for our family of four, and parking was very convenient. ||All in all, I can’t say enough good things about this peaceful, idyllic retreat. Highly recommend for families looking for a relaxing and scenic stay!

Our was a semi guest house with a shared bathroom. It was like a resort with good restaurant. Outdoor hot spring is always great after a day of hiking and siteseeing. We ate dinner and had breakfast there. They even had real maple syrup for breakfast. Food exceeded my expectations considering it is rather remote location.

Heerlijk verblijf met topcottage en warm bad

Lava Resort is een fijne plek om te verblijven. De (denk ik) nieuwe cottages zijn echt fantastisch: modern, stijlvol, van alle gemakken voorzien en super schoon. Vooral het warme bad buiten is een heerlijke toevoeging – ideaal om even te ontspannen.

Vandaag nog iets lekkers gedronken op in restaurant. De bediening was niet de snelste, maar wel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Al met al een aanrader als je op zoek bent naar rust, comfort en een vleugje luxe in IJsland.

Nice place to stay. We got upgraded to a private house, a very nice living space. There is a geothermal pool and sauna, but we didn't have time to try them. Breakfast feast looks very good, but it is not included/ must be booked online beforehand during the off season.

Magnifique et spacieuse, maison de deux chambres avec un salon, une cuisine équipée, une salle de bain et une buanderie. Literie et mobilier de grande qualité.
Au restaurant, cuisine, délicieuse et avec un serveur très attentionné.
Le must reste le Hot tub, le lac à 4° et le sauna.
Le tout idéalement situé !

Absolutely Amazing. Let me tell you a story. Now keep in mind this is my experience and I think its pretty obvious that I had a really good experience at this resort.
We were staying here during christmas as a family. However, we were new to Iceland and thus unaware that there weren't any supermarkets in the region. So long story short we kindly asked the owners of the resort if they could spare some food for us, so that we could eat for Christmas eve. Now initially when we went to see them they gave us a packet of pasta (which we ate)...
But then! Some people from the resort came to or bungalo later that evening and brought us a crate full of supplies. Lots of food, drinks, and sweets. It was amazing.
In addition the resort is really nice. All the rooms have a really good bed, there's floor heating, and there's a hot spring on the resort which you can access for free.
Can't recommend enough, and the landscape is beautiful.

Un vero rifugio nella natura.
Struttura composta da unità indipendenti, nuove e curate nei dettagli, con cucine super attrezzate e spazi intimi e accoglienti. Vista spettacolare su prati (davanti) e montagne innevate (dietro). Ogni unità ha un patio privato, ben distanziato dalle altre, cosa che abbiamo molto apprezzato .Colazione buona e varia, check-in automatico comodo anche in tarda serata (noi siamo arrivati oltre la mezzanotte). Chicca assoluta: la piscina geotermica immersa nel verde, con laghetto freddo accanto.
Unici piccoli nei: poca chiarezza iniziale su colazione (compresa ma in camera c era un avviso che diceva il contrario)e asciugamani per la spa (non servono se avete gia quelli della camera).
Nel complesso, esperienza eccellente.
